River Arts Festival 2021 is Cancelled

The River Arts Festival is a two-week multidisciplinary celebration of the arts, held annually from the first to the third Saturday in November.

Celebrated in the heart of Haldimand County, River Arts Festival welcomes audiences from near and far.
More than 35% of our audience comes from outside the municipality and we frequently welcome guests from Hamilton, Niagara Region, Kitchener/Waterloo, and even the United States.

We celebrate our fifteenth year of the Festival in 2020.

The River Arts Festival attracts superb Canadian artists and performers of local and international stature as part of over 150 things to see and do.

How did We Start?
16 years ago, local visual artist Mark Schmidt pulled together other local artists in a loose collective to host an art show. In the event's third year the collective partnered with Haldimand Art Works in order to expand the event's capacity as a major regional arts event. Haldimand Art Works is a registered charity mandated to nurture and promote the arts in Haldimand County. Since becoming part of Haldimand Art Works annual programming, River Arts Festival has expanded.

The River Arts Festival has received much recognition having been awarded Haldimand County Event of the Year in 2013, and the Haldimand Art Works was awarded Haldimand County Arts and Culture Award in 2015 and 2016.

Who are the Creative Brains behind the River Arts Festival?
River Arts Festival is planned and facilitated entirely by volunteers. The group meets monthly, year round, in order to make River Arts Festival a success year after year. We're working on expanding the festival in 2022 to become a month-long county-wide cultural celebration and we need volunteers in every community to make it happen. Contact us to help plan our next Festival season.
